Frequently Asked Questions

What is your lead time?

Once we receive a quote request we typically respond within a day. After the quote is approved, we will send a proof or “faux sample” of your artwork to make sure the size and composition are correct. After approval, we will order plates which usually arrive the next day. Depending on our production lineup, we are generally able to print that day or the next! So 3-4 day lead time.

Do you emboss or spot treat?

Sadly, no. We do “spot color” and can use foil to give the impression of embossing, but our machine does not have the ability to create a physically raised effect.

What format do you need my artwork?

For better results, we need a vector file. We use Adobe Illustrator, so it is the preferred file. PDFs and PNGs may work too.

What is a plate?

When you order a new label, we need to purchase a plate for it. A plate is essentially a rubber stamp that fits onto our machine that will press down your colors onto the paper. We save these plates on your file forever, and you will never have to pay for them again unless your artwork changes. You can generally expect each color on your artwork to need a plate.

Is your printer digital?

Nope! Our in-house machine is entirely hand run by our pressman Ralph, which allows for color matching and making sure it’s shade specific. But for those who desire a digital print and don’t mind having a little less color control, we are able to outsource and make it happen for them.

Do you do custom tape?

Sort of! Our in-house custom tape is essentially one long sticker that can be cut or perforated at whatever desired lengths (Ex. Every 6 inches). Because it is a “sticker” though, it will have a sticker backing to separate the adhesive.

We can also order your custom tape through one of our outsourcing locations, which will not come with that sticker backing.

Can I come in to color match?

Generally, yes. Because our pressman is not here for that long, we do value his time very much. That said, we set up appointments for color matching, and do request that you only stay for 30 minutes.
